Soweto Tour

Soweto is the most populous black urban residential area in the country, with Census 2001 putting its population at 896 995. Thanks to its proximity to Johannesburg, the economic hub of the country, it is also the most metropolitan township in the country - setting trends in politics, fashion, music, dance and language.

Soweto obtained its name from the first two letters of South Western Township which was the original description of the area.“Soweto is a symbol of the New South Africa, caught between old squatter misery and new prosperity, squalor and an upbeat lifestyle, it’s a vibrant city which still openly bears the scars of the Apartheid past and yet shows what’s possible in the New South Africa”

Tour consists of a visit to the following: Mandela’s House, Vilakazi street, Hector Pieterson Museum and the Apartheid Museum, and an overall drive through of Soweto.

Time : 9am to 3pm
Days : Monday to Sunday
Lunch at patrons expense
